Organic backyard vegetable gardening is where we started, and continues to be an important aspect of our business. In the past two years, we have set up more than 100 raised beds for about 40 Portland-area homeowners, totaling well over 3,000 square feet of intensively planted organic home gardens in front, back and side yards all over town.

We provide a range of home gardening services, including:

  • Setting up new raised bed home gardens.
  • Rehabilitating existing raised bed gardens – Verdura also specializes in rehabilitating existing residential raised bed gardens by testing your soil for fertility and pH balance, and then amending or – if necessary – replacing the soil.
  • Garden plans – Developing customized year-round planting plans to incorporate the vegetables and herbs you would like to grow, in appropriate quantities for your family. To contact us about having your own planting plan developed, please fill out and send us your Home Garden Survey.
  • Gardening lessons – Teaching our clients and their children to garden organically with one-on-one garden coaching throughout the growing season. At the same time, we help clients maintain their home gardens all season long, making regular visits as well as providing email and phone support between visits. Most clients have a strong desire to learn to be successful gardeners on their own, and our goal in working with them is to develop self-sufficient gardeners within a season or two.
  • Ongoing garden maintenance services – Our maintenance services include planting, weeding, pest control and even harvesting – for clients who are either not interested or too busy to maintain their gardens themselves.
