Riverbend Organic Gardens
Located on a lovely stretch of rural property along the Tualatin river, Riverbend Organic Gardens is the second garden we've developed in partnership with Birch Community Services, a local nonprofit dedicated to feeding the working poor. Our Riverbend client's family wanted to do something to help other families who are struggling right now, and the result is this gorgeous garden of 20 raised beds full of organic vegetables, flowers, fruits, and herbs.
Although the garden wasn't completed and planted until early July, our 2009 harvest totaled 489 pounds of tomatoes, potatoes, green beans, squash, melons, cucumber, Swiss chard, broccoli, kale, and other crops. We are expecting to top 1,000 pounds in 2010!
